Crabby Skull

My friends Christi LaMountain and Russ Reed discovered this excellent barnacle residue on horseshoe crab shell simulacra on a recent beach visit!

Is that skull sticking it's tongue out. Oh wait, never mind...

Lol Tatman, skulls can have tongues too! Does kinda look like it. I haven't seen alot of pics of horseshoe crabs, is this a normal shape for their shell? Are they the ones that "find" their shells lying around? If so, they are ultimate reuse/recyclers! Nature is a wonder eh?

couchgirl13,
It is actually a broken bit of horseshoe crab shell.
And I hadn't noticed before, but it does sort of look like the skull is sticking its tongue out.
