365. Birthday Skull OR (Can you have your) Skull Cake (and eat it too?)
Frosted Birthday Cake. So yes, today is my birthday and I made my own cake (OK I decorated a cake made by a local grocery store famous for its cakes)! At one point I considered making a fondant covered, sculpted cake from scratch, but then realized I didn't want to spend my entire birthday making a skull! That said, this still took around 4 hours to make/photograph. The cake will be eaten by my family tonight and I will of course post some documentation afterwards. I'm sorry I can't share a piece with all of you out there, but I hope you know how much I appreciate the support and encouragement I've been given over the past year. It's been an incredible roller coaster ride and I couldn't have made it through with out you all. And don't worry the site won't disappear at midnight tonight. So tune in tomorrow for the beginning of Skull-A-Day 2.0 and see what happens.
Happy Birthday! And thanks for sharing your wonderful talents with the world. It has been great fun looking at this site every day and I look forward to 2.0.

ReplyDeleteI first found this blog way, way too late, on Skull #233, Dirt Skull (for Jackie), which is still one of my favorites. i had just lost a friend, and it was very poignant for me.
Anyway, it's been a fun ride. Happy birthday, and thanks again! (Looking forward to version 2.0 as well... and i fiercely second someone's Leap Year remark!! Ahem.)

ReplyDeleteCant wait for 2.0!
Happy Birthday, Noah! I got here from Neatorama, the veggie skull. It's been marvelous seeing what the creativity of one person can spawn. Every skull unique, made (or spotted) out of love. You did (and will continue to do with Skull-A-Day 2.0) great things for artists, bloggers, and skull lovers. What a lovely brain you're housing in your skull!

ReplyDeleteHappy C-Day to you.
This feels like the bad icebreaker game from my support group.
Hi my name is C and I have been skull-a-daying (coined a new action verb there) since Number 3 which coincidentally is what number "C" is in the alphabet. HUMMM?
My favorite skull by default is Number 32 . Come one you didn't C that coming?
I know I have been slacking on my comments recently, but let me refresh your memory to the comment section of Number 300 . Looks like a cyber contract to me.
Thanks for the memor-Cs.
Happy Birthday Noah! And congratulations for making it through!
ReplyDeleteI'll be checking to see what you'll come up next!
