Skull designed for interlocking pattern, filled with that selfsame pattern. For more interlocking patterns check out M.C. Escher.
UPDATE:
I've been told that it's not entirely clear what I did here. To explain, the pattern is made of the same repeated shape, which fits seamlessly with all the ones around it (like bricks)...
Does that help?

This is called a sliding grid.
ReplyDeleteThis would make great wrapping paper for gifts. Top it off with a lovely black velvet bow and you not only have a present- but also a work of art.
ReplyDeleteI would so love to get a present wrapped in this paper!
ReplyDeleteNice tessellation! I'm so glad I found your blog, I too have been a skull fan for years, before it became "the thing". I've recently found a few drawings/paintings from my first year of college (8 years ago) that can back me up. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill! Looks like I need to get my hands on some of that skull paper you designed, nice stuff!
ReplyDeleteAw thanks! :D
ReplyDeletehey i have a 60's (i think) pacheesi set whose box cover has this same pattern/colour but its a hindu god figure - you've somehow grabbed its design karma ;)
ReplyDeleteWow! I'd love to see what that looks like Sarah, send me a picture if you can!
ReplyDeleteIt's also called a tessellation
ReplyDeleteI would totally love to make a skirt out of fabric with this pattern, and I never wear skirts. This is beautiful!
