97. Cereal Skull

Organic Cocoa Puffs in Organic Soy Milk. This one is for Tim, who made the first winning song, which just happened to mention 2 skulls that I haven't actually made. Clearly I had to rectify that situation!

  1. That is impressive! Should I be sending my suggestions to your email or is here ok?

  2. Thanks! Either way is fine. If you post 'em in comments other folks can see. If you send to me, I'll include it in a future Braincase (though I'm probably a month behind on those!).

  6. I agree, that's impressive. I have a hard time getting the last few pieces on the spoon, let alone arranging them in a pattern!

  7. I'll still take porridge over cocoa puffs any day of the week. :)

So when do we get the army men skull? I will be particularly impressed if you melt them into shape using a magnifying glass. Carnage skull. Symbolic.

  8. Thanks. At least for the moment I'll post here. Maybe I'll give someone else an idea too. :) I've thought of running shoes and socks today... And painting on someone's nails... there are sooo many possibilities, it blows my mind! And crosswords! ...I'll come back tomorrow before I get any more worked up with brilliance, LOL.

    But I cheated.

  12. I was at a friend's house showing him the site, and it was quite a surprise seeing my suggestion front and center.

I can't believe no one asked: How do they taste?

And my secret word is zmbuhl, which is a male zebra/cow mix.

  13. Surprise! They actually taste pretty bad to me, but I'm not really a fan of chocolate cereals.

  14. The cereal skull turned out great. I know food photos are harder than they look.

Question -- you're obviously a fan of organic food (which is why the word ended up in the song), Do you ever worry that your food-skulls could be interpreted as a anti-organic metaphor?

For example, if I saw an article about bio-engineered food accompanied by a skull illustration, it would be pretty clear what the article thought about GM-food.

  15. Good question Tim. It's definitely all about about the context. On my site I think it should be clear that I use organics because I eat them and they are what's on hand. Outside of the site it wouldn't be immediately obvious what type of foods were used, so I'm not really worried about misinterpretation.
