Carved Polystyrene Container. Usually we're good about refusing these non-recyclable boxes when we get food to go, but once again some of this nasty stuff slipped past our guard and made it home last night. Why do people still make/use these containers?

ReplyDeleteWe rarely see styrofoam containers like that in Australia, but sometimes the alternatives are just as bad. And the stryofoam cups are still used here and there.

I hate this stuff too, but I gotta say this is my favorite one so far. I will be doing this to my leftovers in the future, just for the fun of opening the fridge and finding it.

Are you positive that it's not recyclable? Here in L.A., the sanitation folks will take any kind of styrofoam, even if it's not marked as recyclable. You might want to check with whoever handles your recyclables before you toss that stuff in the trash.
ReplyDeleteSadly 5000! the recycling where I live is very limited. We are actually mailed guides that specifically say that we can only recycle #1 & #2 plastics! Most plastics can be recycled, but many places choose not to since it's not profitable to do so.
