143. Skullwalk Chalk

Chalk on Sidewalk (34" x 50" [86cm x 127cm]. Apparently sidewalk chalk makers don't think kids need dark colors. This one is right in front of the entrance to my house. Luckily it's close enough to Halloween that the neighbors will think it's just a decoration and not be too freaked out. Thanks to Jessica for providing the suggestion and materials!

UPDATE: It started raining about 10 minutes ago and this has totally vanished (before the neighbors even got to see it)!

  3. To fix the dark chalk problem you just make you own. My sis found a recipe and chalk and you can make different colors.

  4. I'm hooked on your site, skull.

And already worried about what i'll do when your year is out.

    The death of skulladay, discuss.

Tibetan buddhists believe it's good to meditate a few minutes a day on one's mortality, meditate even on the corpse rotting, filled with weevils, meditate on not-being-here-anymore and the OKness of that. Skulladay has become part of that meditation for me.

    Thank you.

  5. I love those colours. That's a good one! Too bad it was so temporary.

  6. You know they make glow-in-the-dark sidewalk chalk right? On a nice blacktop driveway...could be pretty sweet.

  7. Oh great lets hope that chalk wasn't from China. Next thing you know there will be lead contamination in the local pond.

At least it didn't rain while you were working on it.

  8. Thanks all!

I definitely need some of that glow chalk!

Prozacville: You definitely understand this project. And don't worry the site will most likely continue in some form when I'm done making my skulls.

  9. I've done sidewalk art with dark materials, it wasn't black chalk but a sort of a more heavy duty charcoal. Might have been charcoal briquette.
