Bleach Painting on Denim. I started out making a straight forward image and then decided to play a little more with the medium, since some splatter started to happen in the process anyway. Thanks to my friend Carol for suggesting this medium/material and thanks to Phil and Mady who gave me this jacket when I was in Petersburg making the
Rock 'N' Skull!
WOW - that sure takes me back...remember the bleach painted Converse high tops??? (wish I still had those shoes!!)
ReplyDeleteLove the jacket!
The illustration is incredible.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the Jean Jacket of Turin.
That looks like a skull rising out of the break at the beach. Which, given our recent "incident" in Solana, is kind of ironic(al).
ReplyDeleteI like the angle of the skull as it emerges from the jacket. Very well done!
ReplyDeleteif you ever have a contest to give away that thing... let me know... holy cow that is awesome. i would rock that daily.
ReplyDeleteNiiiiiiiice! I'm doing 365sketches of a certain character of mine and was afraid I'd never get to 100...but WOW! VERy impressive!
ReplyDeleteThat beats the hell out of any metal band back patch that I've EVER seen. The way that it seems to be emerging from the splatter is killer!
ReplyDeleteSuper fucking cool... like the others have said.. all about the angle... and of course your illustration and drafting skills are the "dead" on. Been real fun following the blog.
ReplyDeleteYou know, forensically speaking, a skeletonized body means someone's been dead at least 9 months, but a bleached skull indicates at least 12 months. (At least, that's what I taught my undergrads today.)
ReplyDeleteNice work!
bravo !
ReplyDeleteHow much you want for one of those? I need a new denim jacket and would wear that EVERY DAY!!!
ReplyDeleteI really like this. To me it's reminiscent of the Converge artwork for Jane Doe

ReplyDelete#1) Was this done free hand or a stencil?
#2) What sort of things do you have to do to join your bike gang?
Thanks all!
ReplyDeleteC: 1. Freehand. I used a photo I took for reference.
2. Hmmm...
your perspective continually amazes me!!!!
ReplyDeletethis skull is coming right out of that jacket!!!

ReplyDeleteauction that thing off!!
