Sunday Sabatical: Los Angeles

My recent trip to Los Angeles included a visit to a couple of great places for skull lovers...

First I did a book signing at the fanatic Dark Delicacies bookstore with Robert Rhine and the other folks featured in the recent issue of his Girls & Corpses magazine. Dark Delicacies has book & CD signings nearly constantly, though just their collection of skull toys and collectibles are reason enough to stop by. (below Robert and I pose with the latest issue of his magazine)

While at the book signing I had the pleasure of meeting Cathee & JD, owners of the Museum of Death who were also featured in Girls & Corpses. Of course I couldn't leave town without a visit to their intriguingly titled museum. The facade certainly doesn't leave you guessing what's contained within...

Their collection of death related items is truly impressive! They have antique mortician apparatuses, serial killer artwork, animal skulls, funerary items, and much more. And no trip there would be complete without meeting their pet two-headed turtle Heckle & Jeckyl (yes, they're alive and quite healthy!)...

There are a lot of really explicit images of crime scenes there as well, so the Museum of Death is definitely only for folks with strong stomachs, but if you think you can handle it, definitely give them a visit next time you are Hollywood.

  1. Wow! It looks like you had a great trip. Robert Rhine's suit is totally pimping. The museum would have been killer to see also(pun intended).

  2. At first glance, I thought that was Hugh Heffner you were posing with. Thought you might be the next Playmate.
