Welcome to Skull-A-Day 3.0 monthly contest. The Skullmaster, Tatman, and myself, Citizen Agent, would like to introduce you to the exciting new monthly contests we will be doing throughout year 3.0. We realize that it is you, the fans of the project, who continue to keep this site going, and over the past year you have shown us the amazing talent that is inside of you. Our monthly contests are one more way in which everyone can get involved. We want to inspire you with a topic each month and see what you come up with in response to it.
The Details: The usual submission rules apply here, all work must be original and must fit the criteria for the current monthly contest. All contests will begin on the 1st of the month and run through the end of the month. All entries must be e-mailed to the submissions address. Be sure to include the name of the contest in the subject line of your e-mail.
About the Prize: 12 unique hand-made prizes will be awarded throughout the 3.0 Skull-A-Day year. Each month one prize will be awarded one week after the end of the contest to a random participant, at which time all submitted work will be exhibited on Skull-A-Day. Update: you can view all the submissions here.
JUNE 2009 CONTEST:
Create your own Skull-A-Day Flag
Flags are a form of communication: they have been used for thousands of years to communicate ideologies, membership, and ownership. They have a history of symbolizing one's uniqueness over another. Flags have been used to signify independence, symbolize revolution, and to claim possession. We at Skull-A-Day want to inspire your quest for independence, your spirit of revolution, and help you stake a claim in Skull-A-Day 3.0 by designing a flag that symbolizes all things skull to you.
Criteria for submission: You may use any medium to create your Skull-A-Day Flag.
Prize: Longtime friend of the project artist Larry Pearson of Pearson Metal Art has made this month's absolutely incredible Skull-A-Day award from plasma cut steel!
What are you waiting for, get working on your flag and send it in soon!
Aye aye, Cap'n!
