Olivier JUTEAU from France is an artist glass maker. Here is his description of the skull, "CÆLUM CAPITIS". It is a "Glass skull with Earth inside, and with transparency you can see in relief continents, because they are molded in hollow on internal face." It's sitting on a piece of steel slag. The description on his site is beautifully written. I suggest translating it.
This is amazingly beautiful. I'm in awe with the level of detail in this. This immediately reminded me of the Nazca skulls that are made of crystal, that are found in more places than just Nazca, Peru. It's fitting that this one has the world molded into the glass. The roughness of the steel slag is a good juxtaposition to the smoothness of the glass skull. The texture of the slag also has a smoothness, which compliments the skull. Overall the piece is well done and fascinating.
