Established in the year 2000, Sourpuss Clothing specializes in creating an ever-growing selection of original apparel, accessories and housewares for everyone from tattooed punks to zombie pinups. Most recently, they have created a line of Dia de los Muertos-themed ceramic banks and bowls in both black and bone colorways. Each has been hand-painted and decaled, and each measures 36cm around. On Sourpussclothing.com, pieces are only sold individually, but on Skull-A-Day, we are offering 1 lucky winner both the black bank and bowl as a set.....A SECOND lucky contestant will be chosen to win a set of the bone-colored bank and bowl.
These banks and bowls are great. I've been fortunate enough to see them close up. The ones with top hats are the banks. There is a coin slot cleverly placed at the top of the hat. The bowl are the skulls with bows. There is a large opening at the top of the skull.
Banks are great places to store small precious things. Bowls are great for eating out of, or using to contain other items. To enter the contest, leave a comment saying what you would store in a skull bank, and use a skull bowl for. I'd store my fortunes from fortune cookies inside the skull bank. The fortunes normally have wise advice, which will fill up the empty skull nicely. I'd probably put some icecream and a brain cupcake in the skull bowl, so it looked like I was eating gooey brains from it. What ever your answer is, make sure to leave a comment below, to enter the contest.
[NOTE: If you are reading this on Facebook or Google+, be sure to leave your comment on the original Skull-A-Day.com post if you want to be actually entered in this contest.]
Don't forget to include a way to contact you (either an e-mail in the post OR make sure your Blogger profile has a working e-mail link for you on it). Entries are only valid with this information.
You have until just Midnight Eastern Time Wednesday, July 18th to enter so don't delay!
NOTE: Sourpuss Clothing will pay for the shipping to the winner. This includes internationally as well as in the USA.
Of course you don't need to wait till the end of the contest to get your own Sourpuss bank or bowl. Sourpuss Clothing's website is stocked full of amazing items to statisfy your creepy style needs. When I was a little girl in the early 1970s, my dad made me a bank shaped like a skull. I called it Bernie. It broke in the 90s when an ex boyfriend threw it at the wall in our apartment. ReplyDeletei had a skull bowl as a kid, and we have a brain shaped jell-o mold, so my mom used to make me pink jell-o in the mold for me to eat out of the skull bowl. when we got a new dishwasher, it melted the bowl and i've never been able to find another i like quite as much! these are killer, though!

ReplyDeletekeithamessina@gmail.com
I am about to turn 21 in October, and I would use the bank to collect any and all loose change from purchases throughout the day. People do this quite often, but I'm terrible with saving money, and wanting to go back to school, so I might slip a twenty in there every once in a while so I don't have to go hungry on my bad weeks!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what I would use the bowl for, but something really cool. I work in a music store, and would probably find a use for it there. And when people ask where I got such a cute thing, I'll tell them just how great Sourpuss is! ;)

I have to take it out when I sleep, and if I don't put it in something it sometimes it rolls under the bed and gets covered with dust from the Dustbunnies playing dodge ball with it all night. Most of the time I can sleep through it, but they can get pretty noisy.

These Dia de los Muertos-themed banks and bowls by Sourpuss Clothing are wicked cute! The bank would be a great way to save loose change for personal rewards/trips/etc. I don't think my mornings would be complete now without a fabulous skull bowl to eat my cereal out of.
ReplyDeletesterling429@msn.com
I love, love, love sugar skulls. These are beautiful - they look so smooth & shiny, i wouldn't be able to stop touching them!
ReplyDeleteIn the bowl, I would keep all of the unusual things that my cats have brought home for me. These would be: Pink sponge hair rollers, numerous coloured elastic hair-ties,plastic/rubber bangles & a leather choker necklace, which has a small enamel daisy on it. Goodness knows where my beautiful Indigo stole that from !

ReplyDeleteFor the bank, it needs no re-purposing, change will do!
We collect all spare change and put it in a piggy bank for our 2 year old daughter. A skull bank would be so much cooler - especially since on the wall of her all-pink nursery, she has a framed pink cross-stitch that says "I liked skulls before they were cool." Also, in the skull bowl we would keep all her little treasures that she collects like pebbles and acorns. Hope we win! Love these! :)

ReplyDeleteThe bowl would probably contain my jewels and piercings... Or I could drink coffee out of it !

Every night before I fade off into a world of my own, I tend think of a goal or a wish I'd like to complete in the future. If I had the bank I'd use it to store these blurbs of slight consciousness until I come to a milestone during which I'll see if I am where I want to be in the world. With the bowl though, I'd use it to store my stash of sweets. n_n
ReplyDeletejazzafied@gmail.com
