I'd take it on my next big adventure. The last one was to Machu Picchu via the Inca Trail, but the next one won't be quite so far away for me. We'd go camping in the world's largest freshwater archipelago. We'd kayak amongst the Georgian Bay Islands and take in the glorious sunset before basking in front of a campfire and toasting some marshmallows.

Eventually we'd end up at an Art centre where we'd stand, defying anyone to try and move us and say we aren't meant to be part of the exhibition. The cemetery is located at the top of a hill in the middle of Chillicothe, Ohio, with a beautiful view of the small city that was the first capital of Ohio. I would fix us a romantic meal of bacon stuffed grouse and fondue which we would eat on a blanket as we watched the sun set. After dinner we could talk a long romantic walk through tar hallow and see if any ghosties come out to see us. We would begin our date in the early morning, meeting for coffee at the Gypsy bean coffee house where we could enjoy getting to know one another over the wonderful aromas of chickory coffee, espresso, and almond pastries. I'd tell Skully all about the yearly Dia de Los Muertos celebration and parades in the area, and his smile would melt me from the get-go.
ReplyDeleteWe would then travel into Ohio City where we would explore the West Side Market, a marvelous shopping experience and historical landmark in Cleveland. After buying the finest meats, cheeses, fruits, olives, and wines, we would head over to the various artsy neighborhoods, and marvel in the many installations therein.
Later in the day, I'd take Mr. Skull to Momocho for some tequila tastings, and munch on some guacamole stuffed with a marvelous center of goat cheese.
Our tongues will certainly loosen by this point, so why not take a romantic stroll along Lake Erie? I'd show Skully the Wagner statue, and explain how controversial it is in the area, hoping to impress him with my knowledge of musical history.
We'd surely wind up sitting on the rocks down by the pier, maybe make out while watching the gulls fight for the most up-to-date trashy delights. We might also explore how deep we're getting at this point, and toss that li'l anchor out into the waters for a test-run.
After lifting the anchor from the depths, we would then head back to my place where we would pop open a nice Malbec and exchange past love failures. A few tears might be shed, but music will help us through. We would spend the next couple hours sharing all the bands we like, and Skully would have no choice but to be awe-stricken by my massive vinyl collection.
We'd probably realize we drank too much, and although we'd munched on the goodies we bought earlier at the market, real sustenance would be in order. We may bicker a bit on this, but something tells me Skully would want a really romantic dinner. So we'd head to La Dolce Vita in Little Italy. The food there is divine, and it's Monday, so they have opera!
As we sit slurping on our spaghetti, I notice a beautiful young lady heading our way. I hear the beginnings of the "Habanera" from Bizet's Carmen, jump from my seat, and begin serenading Skully in my most sultry and amazing voice. It's a little shaky, being tipsy as I am, but he is absolutely smitten, and that young Chica turns away before she even had the chance with my Skully-wully!
We would end the night with a deep, passionate kiss, our hearts fluttering in our throats, and struggling with who will be the first to let go from this amazing embrace. I would feel our inner rhythms sync as the beginnings of forever stab our hearts simultaneously, knowing this time, it's the real deal.

ReplyDeleteI would take this skull on a "date" with me to the Death Race (www.youmaydie.org) in June 2013 where it would be with me when I push myself beyond my limits. It would be a source of comfort to me when I'm crying and want to quit. And it would give me strength and motivation to finish the race. By taking it with me on such a life changing ordeal the skull already steeped with meaning will become even more to me and will mean something different to me than anyone else.

We'd go to Voodoo Donuts (22 SW 3rd Avenue, "just south of the Burnside Bridge" in downtown Portland) and get a bag of maple and bacon bars, or maybe dirty snowballs, so we have extras to offer the various homeless as we stroll Burnside on our way to Powell's City of Books where we will peruse copies of "Love me or kill me" the collection of Sarah Kane plays, and "Famous Last Words" or perhaps "Skeletons of the Heart" by Pearl Mitchell. Good times.

I would take this date on my first Valentines date in FOREVER! We are going to my favorite 5 star restaurant that I never get to go to but going to because this is a special occasion! Then later we're going home and going to probably be in bed for the rest of the night if you understand what I mean...then in the morning we're going for massages and then to another favorite place to eat. So that's a really long date but hey, it's going to be so much fun and time for lovin!

I just got out of the hospital and am recovering from surgery on medical leave so I can't take it outside on a date. So I would enjoy it at home with my husband. Looking at it will remind me of how much he is my rock and how he has been there for me during this surgery and everything else for the past 15 years. We had a masquerade Halloween wedding and it would also stand to remind me of our special day.

ReplyDeleteWell I would take this on a date to where I met my husband to see a show and hang in my VIP booth at the Junk Yard (concert venue) After the show I would take it to where we had our wedding reception and annually visit, Frankies Tiki Bar in Las Vegas. Since we have weathered many storms and stayed together and are still alive post, cancer, blindness in one eye, deafness in one ear...it's a fitting symbol of our love.

I would take "'Til Death Do Us Part" to the quaint little Cajun restaurant where I met the love of my life. We would drink Rum Runners and eat crawfish and beignets. Since my "love" only used me to marry her so she could play with my heart at will then throw it away like it was a piece of trash, then leave me without a word, I no longer have a heart. I need this one to fill the void.

I would take this skull to the secret lair my brothers an I built out of fallen trees and branches in the forest behind our mother's home. It looks like a giant tent. Inside we would enjoy a picnic on a classic plaid blanket, sitting by the hand- made fire pit and enjoying the sounds of the forest as the moon's light fell in rays through the small spaces between the branches of our shelter.

Finally he will have a closet!! I'm a bit of a clothes horse and have stuffed the current closet to capacity. Well.. beyond capacity. So he's been reduced to having his clothing kept in various baskets.. I now vow to respect his closet space and not allow my clothing to trespass into his territory... :)
ReplyDeleteOur children are super excited about having their own rooms!! We have 3 children and 1 adult as I like to say... My oldest daughter is 20.. My youngest daughter is 3. My son is 12 and I have another daughter who is 9..I realize now time flies it seems like yesterday my oldest was just 3...I vow to appreciate the moments I have now.. Good and bad.. I've recently realized that as you look back on your youth even the lowest points in life have meaning and an unexpected beauty..
So for me the perfect place to take this heart is HOME... To be a part of my family,my future, my life and all that we make of it...
I have the most perfect spot picked out... On my husband's side of the closet!! :P

My husband and I would take this beautiful piece of art to the very spot we exchanged our vows on our first anniversary. We chose to exchange our vows with just him and I; the celebrant the only other human around. We wanted to be surrounded by nature, focused only on each other and our love for each other. We unfortunately did not get to take any pictures on the day as we wanted to be married on the beach, even though Hurricane Sandy was in full effect. This beach has always been a meaningful spot for us. We plan to go back every year on the day, Til Death Do Us Part And Beyond.

I would use it in every glamour portrait - especially with cleavage (tastefully so) interplay. Draped around a neck, bicep or chest. I think it would work fine in colour or B&W. It would be more than a prop, more of a touchstone or signature of the momento mori that is every while-I-am-young photo I have ever taken.

ReplyDeleteI would take this for a ride around Tampa Bay because of the pirate history and celebrations. I would photograph it in front of the pirate ship, the pirates grotto, Old Tampa Bay, and Jules Verne/Ballast Point Park, documenting the pieces travels - uniquely photographed, of course. :) Most importantly, my last stop would be at my fathers house. A seafaring man who taught me the constellations in case I ever had to navigate by the stars. He also taught me that if I take from the ocean then I must give back. Since the piece invokes a bit of pirate-skullery, but also in the shape of a heart, it only seemed fitting. Dad played pirates with all of his buddies in the USCG. Hence, these were my thoughts, instantly. Good Luck to all.

I've been dealing with some depression issues since having my daughter a year and a half ago. I've stepped up and made behavioral changes for myself instead of relying on medication to do if for me. Now chemical free and utilizing good behaviors on a daily basis to make my life better, I think I owe my husband a night out to paint the town red. And what a better way to do so than with this lovely bauble? He's stood by me as amazing support through all of this. TIL DEATH DO US PART!
