I've never written a crossword before so apologies for some of the more obscure words and bizarre combinations. It was tricky to strike a balance between proper crossword form and keeping it looking like a skull. Hopefully it's not too hard (or easy!).
UPDATE: We have a winner! Congratulations to Linty who was the first person to solve the entire thing on the first try!
If you're stumped the answers are now HERE.
You're missing a couple of clues, at the bottom of the nose-hole, to the right of #44.
ReplyDeleteI knew I'd miss something, thanks for the head's up!
ReplyDeleteshouldn't the clue for 53 across be 3.14159 also?
ReplyDeleteyou are amazing!
ReplyDeleteJaymes R.: Yikes, thanks!
ReplyDeleteMirambo: Thank you!
ReplyDeletethanks a lot, this was/is fun, I've really enjoyed following this for a while!
ReplyDeleteI've got it all except 58 across. I've got all the letters filled in, but it doesn't mean anything to me.
ReplyDeleteLost Moai: that was my problem to. i can make 58 across make sense or 45 down make sense, but it seems not both. I'm not sure...
ReplyDeleteSorry 58 across is a fairly odd construction and includes an uncommon word. It probably needs a better clue. It helps if you add a comma before the last word and say it with a British accent!
ReplyDeleteDefinatly gonna do this one asap and also you could do a skull to resemble the 1-31-07 boston bomb scare of the mooninites. i dont know if you know electronics but it'd worth a try
ReplyDeleteAnother Limited Rebellion : ok, then my answer probably works, I guess I was just used to seeing the last 2 words in that clue reversed...
ReplyDeleteJaymes R: Yeah I thought it was kind of a fun bit of word play.
ReplyDeleteAnother Limited Rebellion: it's all fun an games till you make me doubt myself :) no, nice job, really.
ReplyDeleteI think you should check it out this awesome skull + rat made by Jun Matsui. A Brazilian tattoo artist.

ReplyDeleteAnd now you have a real appreciation for those people who make these up all the time. You did a great job. I got stumped on a few, but loved your clues, even it I didn't get them all.
ReplyDeleteThanks for combining 2 of my favorite things. Please check your email for my finished puzzle.
ReplyDeleteEven if I would have gotten everything else right, I wouldn't have found the Hotrods - even if I knew this expression before seeing the posted answers. They don't seem very ecological.
