320. (Faux) Sausage Skull

Cooked Fake Sausage (approx 2.5in x 5in [6.35 x 13cm]). I know a few of you have been waiting for a meat skull, but if you haven't figured out by now I'm vegetarian, so this'll have to suffice. I meant to make this one this morning (when I was actually eating some of this), but work got the best of me.

  2. Good for you on being a vegetarian. I have family that is as well but I can't give up meat. It would be like trying to give up pasta... just ain't gonna happen. But power to 'ya.

Oh, and I love the FauSauskull!

  3. My wife and I eat a mostly vegetarian diet. I'm not sure I would eat this, though.

  4. I can't believe this blog won't be around anymore soon! I didn't realize it was just for a year thing, and they've all been amazing! I've used a handful of them for desktop wallpapers throughout the past few months since I've been reading this blog. I'm a veg, too. <3

  5. It looks so tasty. (hooray for fauxsage)

I am going to seriously miss this blog, I check it everyday. I didn't know you were vegetarian, now I like this place even more. :D

  6. Was it made using soysage or whatever it's called? Did you form the raised areas so it would form a skull image after it was cooked? I reckon that's at least close, as it looks too small to have been done using a small torch.

  7. Kitty, yes I made raised areas that touched the pan and thus cooked more! The product I used is called Gimme Lean.

  8. I don't understand fake meat products. If you're a vegetarian and you believe that we as humans or even you as yourself should not eat meat, then why would you eat something that looks and tastes like meat? It doesn't match up with the morality involved. It doesn't make sense to me.

  9. Mary, I can't speak for all vegetarians, but I eat it because it's convenient, tastes good, adds some variety to my diet, and doesn't involve hurting/killing animals.

  10. Hey, where's the scrambled egg brains? Or wait, was this sausage drug free? Maybe you need a little gravy for some blood? Looks good enough for me to eat. Tasty!!!

  11. There was a question posted by Mary regarding why vegetarians would eat faux meat?

Like the designer, I cannot speak for all vegetarians, but I can from my personal perspective. I gave up eating meat, not because I didn't enjoy the taste, but because I opposed the cruel practices of factory farming.

These products are meant to satiate people's interest in the "meat-like" taste or texture, but eliminates any harm to animals.

It would be silly for vegetarians and vegans to try to argue that they didn't enjoy the taste. Yet, it would also be silly to think that acknowledging this fact would make a vegetarian less committed to their values.
