Radiator Drawing. Thanks to my friend Philip who suggested a trip to the local junk yard to find some skull inspiration! I can't believe I've never been before, the place was filled with endless visual inspiration (and also an incredibly appropriate skull-making location). The hard part was deciding what to do. While moving car parts around was tempting, the act of illustrating on a radiator by pushing on it with the back of a pen found on the ground, turned out to be immensely satisfying. Of course I left this (and an earlier attempt) for others to discover.
That is totally rad.
ReplyDeleteIt's an idea I wish I'd had.
Love it love it. Junk yards rock.

ReplyDeleteHey you damn kids get the hell out of here before you break something else.
First: Don't try this at home. Bending the fins on your radiator to make pictures could cause your engine to overheat and lead to things more expensive then a $400.00 radiator.
Second: In case you already ignored #1.
Oh wow, I didn't know there still were junk yards anywhere. Fantastic work, Noah!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it took some time to get the "shading" just right. That would make for a great place to put a few hidden cameras to catch the looks on faces of people who spot it.
It's a shame I don't have that kind of talent. I'd love to do something like that to look like the image of Jesus or the Virgin Mary, just to see if people would enshrine it. (insert evil grin emoticon here)
Thanks all!
ReplyDeleteKitty: Surprisingly people seemed pretty uninterested in what I was doing, and my friend who took me said in all likelihood no one will even notice!
I want to say something witty about this, but I can't. It's just too damn cool. Eeeeevillll!
ReplyDeleteBest use for CAP ever. :) (I recognize those trees!) I was dragged to Chesterfield Auto Parts with w/ a friend once and was kind of amazed by the sad beauty of the broken down stripped cars. Skulls in their own way really.
