THIS CONTEST IS CLOSED. Thanks to everyone that participated!
Halloween is quickly approaching, and many people will be decorating their porches with Jack-o-lanterns. What if you want something a little different this year. For this Halloween, the collaborative team of Wenchkin and Scott Krichau would like to give away one of their amazing Tank-O-Lanterns, to one lucky Skull-A-Day.com reader!
PRIZE INFO: Their Tank-O-Lanterns are created with recycled non-refillable refrigeration tanks from Scott's job. Since Scott works with coolers, he is trained to handle the tanks. Wenchkin told me that making these can be very dangerous, as the refrigerant turns into mustard gas if the tanks aren't properly drained completely by Scott. Scott uses
special equipment to make these. Wenchkin creates the designs that Scott cuts out. After Scott has finished cutting out the designs, and cleaning up the tank, Wenchkin installs the electric lights. Since the tanks are metal, the cuts are sharp, and can cause injury if the tanks are handled by the cuts. These are all one of a kind creations, and a great alternative to Jack-O-Lanterns that will rot. They are intended for outdoor use.
HOW TO ENTER: Leave a comment below telling me what design you are carving into your pumpkin or other gourd this year.
CONTACT INFO: If you win, we need to contact you. With your comment, please include your email, or make sure your Blogger profile has a working email link for you on it. Entries are only valid with this information.
WHERE TO ENTER: All entries must be made on this blog post, on Skull-A-Day.com. You can NOT enter this contest by commenting on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+.
CONTEST CLOSES: 11:59:59 PM Eastern Daylight Time Wednesday, October 10th
NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
PRIZE SHIPS: This contest is only open to USA residents, because of the weight and size of the tank. Sorry international folks. There will be other giveaways in the future. Wenchkin and Scott will pay to ship to the USA winner.
IF YOU DON'T WIN: You can get your own one of a kind Tank-O-Lantern by buying one from
Scott's shop. There are a wide range of styles at affordable prices!

Hard to say since I'm going to let our 3 year old try his hand at carving (with child-safe pumpkin carving tools and daddy's help.) It probably won't be anything recognizable but it'll be the best damn jack-o-lantern on the block!
I usually just stick with the tried-and-true traditional jack o'lantern!
wings1295@gmail.com
I always do a traditional jack o'lantern and one with a cat. You can never go wrong with kitties! Now that we have my son, Steven, we will also have to add a dragon to our yearly pumpkin art! *Alianalways@aol.com*
I don't yet know how we will carve pumpkins this year. Need to start planning. I love the tank-o-lanterns. Very cool!
earenh@ymail.com

I want to win this for a dear friend who would think that it was the coolest thing in the world.
Koridawn@gmail.com
I plan on carving a semi traditional jack-o-lantern... puking its guts out. I would love to try this myself, great upcycling idea! Unfortunately I don't have the level of skill to accomplish this.
Most likely it'll be another Star Wars pumpkin. The kids get final say though.

I saw one of these creations at Noah's house so allow me to offer a testimonial on how amazing these are in person. I also hope to personally own one and maybe this contest will make my dream come true.
I would like to attempt a werepanda this year with my pumpkin.
The baby will be adorning his pumpkin with foam shapes, the kidlet wants a witch-cat or a scary ghost, or Captain America to match her costume. I plan a carve-off with the hubba, Punisher for him and Damask Skull & Bones for me. Somehow, the kidlet will win ;)

I like to carve at least one creepy pumpkin eating another, smaller one, and will be trying a skull face!!!
I know 'scary' is always in, but there's so much crap going on in the USA that I'd like to make a smiley pumpkin this year. At least one of us is smiling! hahaha

Hello there Wenchkin. I've been admiring these badass lanterns since you and Scott started kicking them o ut. Very cool work.
I'd be delighted to receive one. Most importantly, I'm delighted to have made your acquaintance over the past year and wish you and Scott much laughter in your lives. Stay cool, Wenchkin. You're a fuckin' jedi.
Best contact email is zen_stone@yahoo.com
this year I'm planning on carving a spiderweb and spider on one pumpkin, and a traditional, triangle-eyes and all, old-style jack-o-lantern for the other. Love all the skulls, bats and other images you-all have been carving on all the tanks.
best email is knitnick at gmail dot com.
thanks!
This year will be my 15 month old's first pumpkin to carve, so we will probably carve something cutesie! LOL abcinks@yahoo.com
This is awesome! My "Skull" (boyfriends nickname) would dig it! probably carve some crazy faces w my daughter.
I am carving a witch with very crooked teeth. Thinking I may stick a small gourd into her chin for her wart.

What an awesome idea ! I just found ur blog yesterday ;p . Cool Beans ! We are total Geeks in our home so we are going with Dr Who's Tardis. Hopefully the neighbors will know what it is lol Just depends if there are any other Whovians in our hood.....

Some day I will own a fantastic tank-o-lantern. In the meantime I will make do with carving skelly designs in pumpkins.
what will i carve into my pumpkin? unfortunately..nothing!!! i am hopeless when it comes to this!!
what would i like to carve....a skull witch on her broom with a black cat hanging on to her skirt..hanging on for dear life!!!
the tank-o-lantern is awesome!! how cool to have one of these...no rotting pumpkin that's mushy at the bottom with little black bugs/fly/larvae thingys because i set an uncarved pumpkin out and let it sit too long...pick it up and ..ick!!!! you would think the fact that it has started to wither would clue me in...nope!
I'm probably going to do a few. One definitely with my Mix Vixen mascot girly and probably a few more. Maybe a zombie, actually ^_^
saw a pumpkin online using flexible metal forming designs on top of the pumpkin. wanted to try that this year. oftheforest@comcast.net
Not sure I'm up for the challenge but my son would probably love for me to do a pirate ship or other piratey scene. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to pull off a Pirate face.
Love these lanterns!
I'm not carving any pumpkins this year, but I am hollowing out sugar pumpkins for baking and to make pumpkin seeds. I eat my pumpkins!
Goatse!
jeremiahtjenkins@gmail.com
This year I'll be carving ominous threats to my neighbor (who lives across the street) into my pumpkins. If I don't have enough room I may have to carve them in chinese or urdu or something...
I'm carving a fetus pumpkin that goes inside a larger pumpkin!
I love these tank-o-lanterns! Every year I experiment with creating creepy shadows using papercuttings, but this is soooo much better. If I win, I'll use it and also share it with a neighbor in town who has an amazing Halloween display.
I carve several pumpkins each year, to light up my long driveway. This year I want to carve some poisonous toadstools; day of the dead bat, cat and owl skeletons; those creepy insects that have been swarming on everyone's houses this fall, and...whatever else I think of at the last minute.
My sister always carves a pumpkin pi (the symbol) so she doesn't have to bake one.
sjryken at gmail dot com
These tank-o-lanterns are epic! totally original and unique, so mad kudos to you guys.
This year, after we get back from the pumpkin patch, I'm going to carve Jack Skellington. (Yeah, I know it's overdone, but I'm a fan)
Keep up the good work!
plasticlachesis(at)gmail.com
I'm thinking a pile of mini-pumpkin skulls.
What an awesome lantern! I'll be carving your basic scary face this year, nothing fancy.
We usually do 4 or 5 pumpkins. A few will be carved like sugar skulls, and there always has to be one that's throwing up its pumpkin guts. its a huge hit with the kids in the neighborhood.
We all do a pumpkin here. So there will three. Mine will be some scary incarnation. My sons will be a silly one, and the wife's something "cute".
I'll toast and paint my pumpkin seeds and glue them to the outside in Dia de los Muertos petals.
joanneyada@gmail.com
This year I carved the Metal Mulisha logo into a black "fun-kin" for my love's Halloween gift! It looks awesome and He LOVES it!!
It really depends on if we can swing getting pumpkins this year - if so, the kids get to pick! Knowing them, something scary, something quirky, something with eyelashes.
If I got to do my own? Picasso pumpkin!
mommaguppy at googlemail dot com for me. (:
Several years ago I carved my wife's face into a fake pumpkin ala this tutorial I did last year.
http://beartoons.com/2011/10/23/how-to-create-a-custom-jack-o-lantern-pattern-in-photoshop-express/
Now I never have to carve again. haha
I just moved to a new city place with some outdoor space (a small porch), so I'm excited to carve some pumpkins! I'm going to try my hand at Heisenberg (from Breaking Bad).
kintsugi22@gmail.com
Mostly I plan on carving out a bunch of pumpkin bread and seeds from my pumpkins, but perhaps a skull or bat will find it's way into one... cin@Riseup.net
