Elvis Schmoulianoff is a makeup artist/bodypainter/wigmaker who takes "face skulling" to a whole new level of detail and color.
You are truly a woman of many faces, Elvis. Even your non skull images are beautiful as well. You can check out the entire portfolio here. Thanks for helping us "face our day"!
p.s.- Elvis dropped us a hint that she is designing a space for a festival in England this summer which is going to be a Day of the Dead themed Skeleton Circus . Who thinks she needs to share that work when it happens? My vote is a definite "yes!"

Zombie Girl Skull
Bruna Rasch, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil created "An 'art' by myself about me like a Zombie Girl."
I love a good skull makeup, but this isn't makeup. This is her skull artwork overlaid on a photograph of herself, the artist. Reminds me of how much our artwork is an outward piece of ourselves. This piece was inspired by zombies who are somewhere between life and death, fleshy and decaying. Seeing this concept depicted like this shows a nice blend between life and eminent death...regardless if you are a zombie in between.

Super Skull Face Painter
If you think you've seen skull face paintings before then, as the saying goes, you ain't seen nothin' yet. JoMarie submits her killer skull faces that any Hollywood make up artist would be proud of. She tells us more, "I am a face painter, mostly for kids bday parties & street fairs...but I LOVE LOVE LOVE to do monsters and scary faces for my own entertainment."

Your works are amazing, JoMarie, including the non-skull faces that I couldn't post. I would have a real hard time believing that these were faces if it weren't for the pics. Keep up the awesome work!

Doctoral Skulls
Dr. Amanda in South Carolina sent us this: “I'm a total fan! I especially LOVE the work you've done with the Mütter Museum...fan-freaking-tastic!! The first is a sketch I did of one of the trephanated skulls at the Mütter during my fellowship. The second is my Halloween costume.”

Bugs C says:
EH What's up Doc? I really enjoyed seeing this sketch, I sometimes forget that much of what we see on the site are the finished result and that most of them started out as studies much like this. Your Halloween makeup is excellent, it is a subtle reminder that we are only a few weeks away and hopefully it will act as an inspiration for others to send in their costume ideas. Thank you for submitting your work, and if any of you are playing Skull-A-Day BINGO at home, you are free to fill in the “Dr.” space now.
“Countdown To Halloween”
16 more days and counting...

skullbook
Today’s skulls are created on the living canvases of our readers.
First up is Cheryl Sterling from Chicago IL who said: “Hi, love your site. A late night photo shoot with just me, myself, and I.”

Next up is Jax,who wrote: “My 7 year old Lydia, is just as much of a skull junkie as the rest of our family. She wanted me to paint her face for Halloween. We love your website!”

Last for the day is Dollita from Western Canada, who told us: “First off I'd like to say I LOVE SKULL-A-DAY! I've been a collector of skulls and bone-related things for some time and have them subtly hidden in the decor around my house so, this project really makes me tingle! I've gotten a lot of fun inspiration for both my art and my growing collection! Halloween is my birthday and last year, 2009, I went in a Dia de los Muertos style. I went as a catrina doll... the make up was done by me.”

Cosmetic C says:
It is always wonderful to see the faces of our readers. Embracing the living canvas of the body and adorning it with art is a tradition that spans most of human history. Thank you all for taking the time to share your living art with us, it is because of the submitted work of our fans, like you, that this site is able to feed your passion by providing you with something new everyday. Keep of the great work.

Face Painting Skulls
A trio of face paintings await you today,
A disguise seen in the most sinister way.
But only do those who see toothy grins,
Smile straight back at the skull within.
-Tatman
With Halloween being less than 100 days away I thought that some inspiration might be in order. Feel free to reference these three great examples when you decide what to dress as this year.
Crystal from California shows a softer side of the skull face with this photo for her photography class.

Kurt Marquart sends a pic of his costume from last year. A little more of the voodoo side of the skull face.

And The Barold from Texas tells us, "This is my wife Ashley as a day of the dead skull for our "Til Death Do Us Part" themed engagement party".

Thanks to all of you for showing us your skull face. If any of you decide to show your skull sans skin for Halloween this year then submit a pic. I'd love to see how many of you we can cram into one post for a special "Faces Of Skull-A-Day".
Are you a certified/certifiable Skull Fanatic like these people? If so, send an image or two, maybe a video of your personal skull/skeleton collection and tell us a bit about what makes you so crazy for skulls, how many skulls you own, and whatever else you think is pertinent!

Bloody Face
Today is Independence Day here in the U.S.A. It is a day that we here celebrate for gaining our independence as a free nation. But, like anything worth fighting for, it comes with a price. Matt Gregg from Dayton, Ohio has created a fantastic piece titled "Bloody Face".

Never forget the bloody faces that have tried to make this world better, one way or another, for one reason or another, with their sacrifices. "Death be not proud, though some have called thee". Awesome work, Matt!
