Sunday Simulacra - Version 7.4

Today's simulacra are happy little accidents.

First up is a past contributor Ryan Kinney of HEYMAN! Productions in Ashtabula, OH who told us: "I found this skull on the back of a ruined photo. While cleaning out a friends barn, I discovered a pile of old, wet, moldy photos. All the ink had ran on them and I found this guy on the back of a photo where the ink had transferred from another photo in the stack."

Next up is Jim in Indiana who wrote: "Obviously a lethal strain of bird droppings."

Neighborly C says:

Another week of absolutely perfect simulacra.  It truly is amazing to see the our community able to surprise us week after week with new simulacra.  Thank you both for sharing your finds with us.

Remember to keep sending those pictures in, we always love seeing what our skull hunters find. Anyone is welcomed to participate, it's fun and it's easy- if you see a simulacra skull, photograph it and send those pictures in to our submissions address with a little something about what it is really and maybe a little about you.

Sunday Simulacra - Version 4.20

Recently I went through my collection of pictures and came across a few personal simulacra to share with you.

First up is a house that I saw while I was on assignment. It is fitting that this house is located near the intersection of Garfield Rd and Lincoln Ave at the beach in New Jersey. Although, it could easily have been in a beach community on Long Island, NY like this one.

Next up is a potato Pierogi, a guilty pleasure of mine. There is just something about them that takes me back. One night while frying a batch a skull appeared for me.

Finally, the most recent addition. It looks like bird poo, but it could have also been spit from a person. No matter what it is, it at least I got a picture before it was washed off.

Library of C says:

Hope you enjoyed a peek into my archives. If any of you have any personal archives of simulacra you would like to share please feel free to send them in to our submissions address. Just keep in mind that since we only post simulacra once a week it might take a little longer than normal for it to be posted.

Sunday Simulacra - Version 3.28

This week I felt like sticking with the rocky simulacra theme I had from 2 weeks ago, but this week has a little twist.

Massachusetts' own Mitch Lunsford found this bit of pigeon poop back in October and figured, "Nature must be in the Halloween spirit".

Theses next 2 come from Ana at the 20 gigs blog. She writes, "the first one is from Banjaluka, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and another one is from Starigrad Paklenica, Croatia".

They say that a rolling stone gathers no moss, but if it keeps still long enough it might just gain a skull. Thanks for the submissions. Keep them coming to the submissions inbox and don't forget that since we only do this once a week it may take a little longer before it gets posted.

Sunday Simulacra - Version 3.8

Today's round of simulacrum comes via the insect world. There are many bugs out there that can resemble skulls and some of our readers are here to help out:

Dwayne Carpenter from Richmond, Va. found this creepy looking fellow

David Jaskiewicz from Perth, Western Australia overcomes fear to bring us this moth. He tells us, "Here is a photo I took a couple of years ago from the inside of my kitchen window. Just letting you know I have an unexplainable phobia of moths (however - totally love skulls), so I had to work up the courage to photograph this moth, which appears to have little skulls on the underside of its wings. Thought you might like it.

Long time viewer and first time submitter Jax Easton found what was most certainly a bug at some point. "This is a splotch of bird poo on a park bench outside the Kelvingrove art gallery in Glasgow...It hasn't been modified at all, and was taken by me."

Plus, a bonus this week from Colin Greenleaf to help remind us about the current contest. "This natural coral rock was found on the beach of the Big Island of Hawaii off the Kohala Coast. The black lava rock called A'a (ah-ah) made this white treasure stand out clearly. As soon as I saw this piece of skull booty, we knew it needed to be found on your website. My wife and I are huge fans. Keep up the good work!" Colin took Skull-A-Day with him on his vacation to Hawaii. Thanks, but next time Noah, Citizen, and myself would prefer actual plane tickets. Just kidding. Thanks for sharing everyone!

If anyone knows what type of bugs these are then feel free to leave a note in the comments. Thanks.
