Metal Skulls

Gille Monte Ruici, from Paris, France, is back with skulls he created with kitchenware utensils, lids, and brooches. He explains, "The vanities of the 17th century represented in paintings meant: memento mori ( remember you that you're going to die). I illustrate in a contemporary way by: Some day you're going to die...it can be because of the junk food." Too true. I like seeing a modern take on memento mori. His work reuses every day objects as reminder that life is short and to live well.

Kitchenware Skulls

Gille Monte Ruici has flashed his handy work in the kitchen wares department before, and he's back with some new tin heads to share.

I'm totally seeing these upcycled skulls carrying their own personalities. The monocled gentleman may have a contract with the goggled pilot for a delivery of goods that will remain secret for the time being.  Or it could just be my imagination.......?  And don't think that I didn't catch the "skoon" on the second skull either.  Merci, Gille!
