Hanasaurusrex Mini Skull

Hannah, AKA Hanasaurusrex, from Honolulu, HI sent us a picture of this mini knitted skull she completed.

Cozy C says:

The shape of this skull reminds me of what the skull from one of the Pacman ghosts may look like if they were allowed to die naturally.  Thank you for submitting your little skull to us for sharing.

Fiber Art Skulls

From across the country and around the globe, skulls are hot for spring...

Shabana Ahmed from Melbourne, Australia shared: “I'm a big fan of your website and have never submitted before, but just recently started learning to crochet and the main shape I want to create in crochet is the skull so here's one of my first one my own skull design.”

Mandy Duffy in Maryland said: “I love skulls and knitted and felted this knitting bag for
myself.”

Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock in Lyons, Colorado knitted this hat inspired from a design of Adrian Bazilia

Milan C says:

One of the truly amazing things about fiber arts is the fact that you can make functional items for everyday use. There is something amazing about a stranger walking up to you and giving you a compliment on something you made. Today allow me to be that stanger and tell you all that your work is amazing. Thank you for sharing your artwork with us and since you are all so talented let me invite you to participate in the Skull-A-Day quilt project that is being done in conjunction with Skull Appreciation Day on June 4th.

Knit & Crochet Skulls

First up is Kara York who wrote: “My Momento Mori Scarf is a crochet piece that I designed a while back and thought it would be great for your site. ”

Next is the return of an old friend of the project Michelle Rautis who sent us this knitted skull ornament.

Fallen Back C says:

As the days have become noticeably shorter and a little bit cooler, it is nice to have some visually warming images today. Thank you both for submitting your wonderful art. No matter how many times I see it, I am always in awe by the talent of fiber artists, it takes great power to turn something so linear into the amazing 2-D and 3-D pieces we see.

Skulls From A Land Down Under

Today's post is a special feature starring long time Skull-A-Day contributor, Kim from Australia. She has been contributing since year 1, and even had her hat and mittens shown in Noah's book "Skulls". While we may not have heard from Kim in a while, she hasn't stopped making skulls. So, without further ado, I bring you a few of the skulls from down under:

Applique Skull: Pink cotton drill machine sewn onto black poly-viscose. This is from a skirt I made quite a few years ago.

Felt Skull: White felt glued on black felt.

Porridge Skull: Maple syrup in porridge. I actually made this during the original project. I have no idea why I never sent it in, I think he's cute! He was tasty, too. Nom.

Samara Jumper: Noah's 8 bit skull makes yet another appearance in my knitting, this time for my friend's baby daughter, Samara. She's still too little for the garment, but I'll send action shots once it fits her.

Toy Skull: Looks familiar? My own take on Noah's toy skull from the original project. Same same, but different!

Okay, Kim, now that we know what you're capable of don't hold out on us for so long. We love seeing your stuff and I'm sure there are others out there, like you, who are waiting on submitting their skulls. Well, follow Kim's example and send them in . If you need an idea there is a contest this month so submit an entry and you might even win a prize. Kim, don't forget to pick up your Skull-A-Day Contributors' Union Card here. Keep up the great work!
