Sunday Simulacra - Version 4.49

This week's round of simulacrum give us something to chew on...literally. Food has always been a favorite medium for skull makers and the skull hunters are ready to bring their share to the table.

Brian Burkhardt writes, "This screaming green skull showed up in my salad from Zoës Kitchen here in Brentwood, TN the other day."

Tony Ridder was at dinner with his kids when they pointed this delectable fellow. I totally agree when he told us, "It's Kind of scary when it is Sushi..."

Fred Hochart recently enjoyed this nice piece of skullified octopus in France.

Thanks again to all of you for helping us serve up another delicious round of secret skulls amongst us. Now let's eat!

[Flashback Friday] 352. Skull Roll

Flashback Friday is a weekly countdown of the fan selected top 52 skulls of Skull-A-Day 1.0. Each week I'll be posting an original skull along with some additional commentary in order from lowest to highest rated, with the #1 skull appearing in the last week of year 3 of the project...

#14: 352. Skull Roll

As the project neared its end, I started doing a lot more collaborative skulls. In this case I'd been talking with my friends at my favorite local sushi & tater tot restaurant about the project for a while and they kindly offered to let me come in and play in the kitchen with their ingredients! Check out the original post to see the skulls that my friends who were working there made while I was making mine. Sadly this hasn't become a regular item on the menu.

352. Skull Roll

Sushi Roll (Rice, Nori, Bell Pepper, Carrots) (approx. 4in x 3in [10cm x 8cm]). Thanks to the fine folks at Sticky To GoGo (the takeout wing of popular local restaurant Sticky Rice) for letting me invade their kitchen to make this one. I don't expect they'll add this to their menu any time soon though, since it took a few hours to make! Special thanks to Ross for helping set this up and Oura for helping with the prep work. They actually made their own skulls while I was at work on mine (Oura's is at the top right, Ross made the rest):
