Sunday Simulacra - Version 4.19

Happy 10/10/10. everyone! It's good to see more of you keeping up on the hidden skull hunt. We still need more submissions to keep the showcase alive so please keep them coming.

This week long time Skull-A-Day friend Phil Cheney gets us started. Phil tells us, "This cast iron grating is covering the windows of the Baltimore, MD City Hall. I discovered it when I was doing a walking tour of Architecture in Baltimore with my class."

Liz Fuzzell has also had some skull hunting luck. "Recently made a trip to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, and during our 3 hour self-tour found these amazing skull formations. These were randomly spotted by my friend and I, nothing posted about them on the tour. First one is made up of huge caves inside the caverns, each opening at least 10 feet in diameter."

"The second skull was a smaller formation (maybe a foot at most) spotted very far away from the trail....this is a zoomed in picture but the shape of the skull is unmistakable! These added to the overall creepy-cool factor of wandering around in dark caves. Happy skull-hunting!"

This Sunday traditon never ceases to amaze me. There are limitless possibilities to the hidden skull simulacra in our surroundings. All it takes is a little imagination, a camera, and a place to submit your pics. Thanks again to all of the skull hunters out there!

C-Rations: 0C110

This week's offering is prepared in a Cave painting style with Conté Crayons

"Simulacres de Chasse" 25" x 19.5" Conté Crayon on pastel paper. Imagined detail of unfinished original in a cave located on Skull Island's Mt. Tatman.

Louis the C says:

Tomorrow the French celebrates Bastille Day, and in the spirit of revolution I wanted to do a French inspired post. So I ask, what's more French than being inspired by their famous collection of paleolithic caves and creating it with a byproduct of the Napoleonic Wars?

Remember each Monday during the 3.0 year I am posting an original skull design. My weekly offerings are nothing compared to the one-a-day massive project done by the Skullmaster in 1.0, but hopefully you will find some nourishment in these weekly offerings.
