Clay Skulls
Ryan P. Kinney of Ashtabula, OH likes to play with dirt. Especially the clay kind. These three little guys(L to R- Jacque, Clay, & Graff) were made by Ryan from clay. Jacque and Graff are made from polymer clay and spray painted. Clay, my personal favorite, comes with a better story from Ryan, "Clay is made from natural earth clay from the first shovel of dirt in the groundbreaking when I built my barn. He was never baked or fired, but is still hard as a rock and has been solid for 4 years." Thanks for not being afraid of getting dirty, Ryan!

Sunday Simulacra - Veriosn 7.19
Today's sneaky skulls were only visible for short times so kudos to the captors for being on point with a camera in hand....
The first was a frosty windshield that was awaiting Ryan Kinney one wintry morning, and the second is the condensation on an ice bucket caught by the skull capturing combination of James and Annemarie Gasser. Both are reminders of how fleeting these hidden skulls can be, as well as your own. Appreciate it before it fades away. Thanks for sharing your finds, Ryan and The Gassers!

Sunday Simulacra - Version 7.4
Today's simulacra are happy little accidents.
First up is a past contributor Ryan Kinney of HEYMAN! Productions in Ashtabula, OH who told us: "I found this skull on the back of a ruined photo. While cleaning out a friends barn, I discovered a pile of old, wet, moldy photos. All the ink had ran on them and I found this guy on the back of a photo where the ink had transferred from another photo in the stack."
Next up is Jim in Indiana who wrote: "Obviously a lethal strain of bird droppings."

Another week of absolutely perfect simulacra. It truly is amazing to see the our community able to surprise us week after week with new simulacra. Thank you both for sharing your finds with us.
Remember to keep sending those pictures in, we always love seeing what our skull hunters find. "Mirrors And Gears" Skull
This chalk pastel work from Ryan Kinney titled "Mirrors and Gears" is Ryan's representation of the inner workings of the human mind.
This piece is as complex as it should be. The human mind is almost as vast as the universe. We'll never fully understand it until we know how every part of it works. Even scientists can do all of the testing they want, but there will always be someone you see that makes you wonder, "What are they thinking?!?" Thanks for the great work, Ryan!

Record skull
Ryan Kinney from Ashtabula, OH made this skull with old records formed over a mask.
Records are considered one form of "dead media", but to me and many other vinyl enthusiasts they are still alive and well in our massive collections. There is something about the crackles and pops of a record that you can't get with a CD, or MP3. I love the tactile quality of being able to hold the music in my hand, vs only digitally view. That being said, I do enjoy seeing bad or damaged records recycled into artwork, like this skull.
