[Flashback Friday] 274. Frog Skull (and Skeleton!)

Welcome to another addition of Flashback Friday.** This year the guest editors, Citizen Agent, Tatman, and myself, Azurafae, are taking turns counting down our personal favorite 17 skulls from the Original 365.25 Year. So please join us as we visit the archives and add our additional commentary on some of the original pieces.

#16 - 274. Frog Skull (and Skeleton!)

This brings back pleasant memories of being the only girl...person really, that was willing to touch the dead frog in science class. That being said, I was the one that had to dissect it. My classmates didn't enjoy my willingness to poke organs with my scapula. That was in middle school and then again in high school. I think those experiences helped form the creepy individual I am.

[BONUS UPDATE] The Fate of #274 Frog Skull (and Skeleton!)

On March 3rd, my skull for the day was made from hand cut copper sheet and glass: #274 Frog Skull (and Skeleton!)...


A few weeks later it was put into a kiln with some other work by my friend Carrie who kindly let me use her studio and materials for this piece. The molten glass is actually glowing red hot in the just opened kiln...



It's been waiting to be photographed on my desk ever since I got it back. The copper has turned red and escaping gasses have caused the bubbles to form...

274. Frog Skull (and Skeleton!)

Cut Copper and Glass (7in x 8in [18cm x 20cm]). My friend Carrie kindly invited me to work in her studio tonight and gave me access to her fused glass materials. This piece will be fired later this week, and I'll post a picture when it's done.
