"Handle With Care" Skull

HAPPY SKULLTASTIC 2013!!!

Mike da Ponte is combining the strength of steel with the fragility of glass to create some of his works, most especially this gruesome looking figure titled "Handle With Care".

The rugged and abused exterior really carries a lot of character.  A story yearns to be told of how this skull was left for dead under a now uninhabited building, but it's tale will never unfold.  Plus, this totally looks like a Slipknot album cover or something to that effect.  Thanks for the hardcore submission, Mike!

Plasma Cut Skulls

From the left coast of Canada, Chilliwack, BC to be more specific, Ani Harper sent us the following, "I just found you're great skull site. Thought you might enjoy my plasma cut skulls. They are all free hand cut out of 20 gauge steel metal, reverse welded onto a rusty plate and clear coated."

That's some wicked work to be done free hand with such a powerful tool. Plus, I can't believe that we still have such great artists just now finding our site. I guess it's a good way to keep the great skull art flowing. Thanks for sharing, Ani!

"Hammered Out & Welded Up" Skulls

Ben Marcacci, who has been featured here and here, returns with his latest work from the desert titled "Hammered Out & Welded Up".  Ben tells us, "It was an exercise in maximizing my free time to create something that is a little rough around the edges, but gets the point across, much like the artist that made it, the country it was made in, and who it was made for, the USMC."

Plus he sent us a closer view of the deer skulls he made featured here.

It's good to see that our skull artists remain so inspired even in the most distant of lands. Art and skulls are where you take them and make them. The universe is our playground and we use what we have to make what we want. Ben is a wonderful example of this. Thanks again, Ben!

Aces & Eights Skull

Ben Marcacci recently showed us his Iron Skulls from Afghanistan and now he's back with another terrific piece of heavy metal and this note, "I just finished up with this piece, Name after Wild Bill's infamous poker hand of Aces and eights (AKA Dead Man's Hand) when he was shot dead in 1876. This Piece, like my last is 100% scrap steel. The skull and hat were cut from a truck tool box that had taken a hit, but there was still some straight steel left in it. Enjoy!"



That's a nifty bit of welding ya done there, partner. Mighty fine work for a man with limited resources. Just like a true pioneer. A pioneer of skull art. Many thanks again, Ben!
