HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!

Today's skulls are the handy work of Massachusetts welder, Jay Carlson. The welded wire skull measures 16" x 22" and is made of 5/32" stainless steel. Jay has also spent 15 years doing art and antique restoration specializing in old art frames. This pirate skull frame would be perfect for a picture of your favorite "booty".  Thanks for sharing these, Jay!

Spare Parts Skull

Jacque Frazee is the man behind the metal of K-Do metal art. He's big into upcycling scrap metal into new and lively sculptures. This skull is made out of a bumper, inner fenders, and exhaust pipe.  The second pic is an earlier unfinished version that I thought had dark and foreboding qualities that had to be shared.  Thanks for sharing your work with us, Jacque!

Metal Buffalo Skull

Braden Kiefiuk from Enderby, British Columbia is a metal bending man!  He's shared this buffalo skull to prominently display upon our page.

Wire Skull Hanger (with Skeleton in his Pocket)

Today's wire working comes form the mind of Clay Hoffman who was featured here back in 2011.  He's added some shoulders to this wire skull to create a skull "hanger" of sorts.

This little fella is the perfect companion...

...for creating this "Day of The Dead" greeting card.

The skulls are wonderful, but the whole functionality of it takes it to a new level. The message is a great reminder to remember where we came from and those who helped to get us here. Let us never forget. Thanks again for the super submission, Clay!

"Hammered Out & Welded Up" Skulls

Ben Marcacci, who has been featured here and here, returns with his latest work from the desert titled "Hammered Out & Welded Up".  Ben tells us, "It was an exercise in maximizing my free time to create something that is a little rough around the edges, but gets the point across, much like the artist that made it, the country it was made in, and who it was made for, the USMC."

Plus he sent us a closer view of the deer skulls he made featured here.

It's good to see that our skull artists remain so inspired even in the most distant of lands. Art and skulls are where you take them and make them. The universe is our playground and we use what we have to make what we want. Ben is a wonderful example of this. Thanks again, Ben!

Aces & Eights Skull

Ben Marcacci recently showed us his Iron Skulls from Afghanistan and now he's back with another terrific piece of heavy metal and this note, "I just finished up with this piece, Name after Wild Bill's infamous poker hand of Aces and eights (AKA Dead Man's Hand) when he was shot dead in 1876. This Piece, like my last is 100% scrap steel. The skull and hat were cut from a truck tool box that had taken a hit, but there was still some straight steel left in it. Enjoy!"



That's a nifty bit of welding ya done there, partner. Mighty fine work for a man with limited resources. Just like a true pioneer. A pioneer of skull art. Many thanks again, Ben!
