Laundry Skull

President Wishnack wrote: “ ‘Death to Laundry!’ i despise the act of laundry-doing and i thought a little procrastination might make the process a little bit more pleasant.”

Dry Clean C says:

I enjoyed seeing this picture, it reminds me of all the times I would sit staring at my pile of laundry and hope it would do itself. This is an amazing piece of work, you took a medium that was so out of the ordinary to create with and made something truly amazing with it. I know you received the Skullmaster's seal of approval on this one. Thank you so much for taking the time to submit your work.

Sunday Simulacra - Version 3.34

This week's round of simulacra is an expression of cause and effect.

First up is from regular contributor, President Wishnack. He writes, "I couldn't remember if you'd done this or not, but it sort of happened half accidentally, half on purpose while in the kitchen.", thus showing the effects of beer on the brain.

Kevin Greenham shows us how beer can cause reminiscing when enjoyed properly. He writes, "I took this picture in the bar Ellangowan Hotel in Creetown Scotland, which is the bar used for the exterior of the "Green Man" in the 1973 version of the 'Wicker Man'. Hope you like it."

And lastly, we can see what the effect of one to many beer skulls could be, but not in this case. Erin from N.C. fills us in, "my son was rough-housing with my husband and had a run in with a cousin's head. this is about five days into the injury and last night i noticed a skull and crossbones on his bruise. i took a few pics and asked some friends if they saw anything. the jolly roger was highly noticed!"

Now we can all see how seeing skulls everywhere affects us daily. Thanks to all of you for being on the lookout for more causes of skull simulacra. Keep them coming to the submissions inbox and don't forget that since we only do this once a week it may take a little longer before it gets posted.

Natural Skulls (Helped Along)

A frequent contributor here President Wishnack sent us this: “I just picked up a new job in the Financial District and my office has a nice view of the Bay Bridge. It also has a nice view of this skull skyscraper! This is about 50% real and 50% edited to look like a skull-- but it was close enough that I saw a potential skull before taking it to Photoshop.

Greg from Australia wrote: “When I pulled an Oreo apart, the filling looked like it had eye sockets, so I helped the resemblance along to make an Oreo skull. The picture shows the before and after.”

Manipulated C says:

Inspiration comes in many different ways, seeing something in an alternative composition is just one way in which our minds help us to comprehend the world we experience. Sometimes all it takes is a a little push with our mind to make great things happen. Thank you for submitting your work, and keep pushing greatness.

Sunday Simulacra - Version 3.41

Before this Simulacra is over you will be visited by three skulls:

The view of skull past, Marcin who contributed here wrote: “We were just about to clean our fireplace when we realized there is skull waiting to be pictured! ”

The view of skull present, one of our frequent contributors President Wishnack from California, brought us this: “I found this upside-down skull at the base of a gated apartment. Just hanging out, being a gate-skull.”

The view of skull yet to be, Ryan Wolf, Beverly MA told us: “Saw this guy in the motif of a small fence around a private plot in an old burial ground. [Massachusetts is riddled with them.] I don't *think* the skull is intentional...”

C. Marley says:

We view the skulls that were forged for us in life. Thank you all for contributing these wonderful examples of simulacra. I am hoping the views have inspired you to go forth and seek their true nature.

Keep sending those pictures in to our submissions address. Just keep in mind that since we only post simulacra once a week it might take a little longer than normal for it to be posted.

Sunday Simulacra - Version 3.25

Today’s skulls are objects viewed through skull-colored glasses

President Wishnack said: “my girlfriend and i are slightly obsessed with your site and whiskey. last night, while drinking whiskey, she pointed out this skullish dish-scrubber. she also, very kindly, entitled me to credit for the find.”

A past contributor here, Joseph AKA Jozip from Sedona, Arizona sent us this: “How about playing us a little tune, eh skully? Kids ocarina whistle. No it wasn’t photographed in space, that’s not a starfield, just dust on my black photo backdrop. Also note the teethmarks from my 6 year old daughter. She just learned how to work the holes to get different notes.

Tyrone from Kunkletown, PA wrote: “The image is of a spoon rest with skully qualities. Big fan. Thanks. ”

Babysitter C says:

We have traced the skulls and they are coming from inside your house. Thank you for submitting your finds to us. It is always a joy to see the many different skulls we use everyday. I also ran into a simulacra this week, but I can't find the memory card that it is on. Hopefully I will have it for you in two weeks.

Keep sending those pictures in to our submissions address. Just keep in mind that since we only post simulacra once a week it might take a little longer than normal for it to be posted.

Sunday Simulacra - Version 6.29

Today's simulacra are found between a rock and a Good place.

Frequent simulacra hunter, President Wishnack from San Fransico, CA said: "It's been a while since I've submitted a skull.  I found this mug at Goodwill, and I don't think it was intended to be a skull-- it's got three hearts on all sides of the mug.  This side looks like a confused skull to me."

Next Marzi, caught this simulacra on 1st Street in Austin, TX.

Holey C says:

Thank you both for taking the time to submit your finds.  You never know when one may decide to say hello so remember to keep your cameras at the ready.

Keep sending those pictures in, we always love seeing what our skull hunters find. Anyone is welcomed to participate, it's fun and it's easy- if you see a simulacra skull, photograph it and send those pictures in to our submissions address with a little something about what it is really and maybe a little about you.

Sunday Simulacra - Version 6.19

Today's skulls were found on a window and door.

Carlton K of Spiderbite Studios found this frost skull when he "was leaving for work one morning."

President Wishnack said "This one's upside-down, but I couldn't pass it up. It's a San Francisco (Tenderloin) apartment door."

Sunday Simulacra - Version 3.36

The skull hunters are on the loose out there. Here's more of you with your skull eyes open....

President Wishnack satisfies his sweet tooth with this submission. "Someone informed me that you can get a free scoop of Ben & Jerry's if you join their "Chunk Spelunker" group online. I'm a sucker for free ice cream, so I did it... only to find a skull hiding out in my Oatmeal Cookie Chunk!"

Plus, he gets a daily look at how skull bloggers used to do it in the old days.

Finally, Babette submitted what has to be one of the best, if not one of the creepiest simulacra yet. She writes, "I was preparing to cook some chicken legs, and that little skull face was staring at me from the marinade bag, so of course I had to take pictures."

Of course you did, just like Shawn had to gross us out with his chicken neck also. Creeeepy!

Thanks to everyone for keeping your skull eyes open. Keep those submissions coming in to the submissions page and we'll keep getting them posted.

Sunday Simulacra - Version 3.44

The wonderful skull hunters we have continue to see the light with this week's round of simulacrum.

President Wishnack returns to lead off this Sunday. "This is the San Francisco Soup Kitchen's light reflecting onto the marble columns outside my work."

Gardner Sapp found this light pattern cast on sidewalk at his folk's house.

And last but not least Jenna Herran fills us in on her profound skull find. "I was traveling in the backseat on vacation and happened to look at the chair in front of me to see this beautiful phenomenon! It was the shine off of a button on my purse. The crazy thing is, the button is just round and says "Black Mountain College"...It doesn't even resemble a skull when you look at it.."

These are great finds all around. If you dare to dream of skulls then you'll be sure to see the light in your own way....someday. Thanks for keeping those skull eyes open, everyone. If you find your own simulacra then be sure to submit it and we'll be sure to spread the word.
