David Bowie's death was surprisingly shocking, he'd always been in the background of my life and I guess I unconsciously expected him to live forever.

R.I.P. Ross Harman
Ross Harman was a kind friend to me and the Skull-A-Day project and was the impetus for the creation of my 352. Skull Roll.
His involvement in the project really started when he made this skull as a surprise for me when I picked up an order of sushi from the restaurant where he worked...
He was also a fantastic musician and I encourage you to check out his music HERE.
Ross left a lot of very sad people behind, including myself, and will be missed terribly.
If you know someone who is in emotional distress, please make sure they know about the Helpline: 1.800.SUICIDE. Also please consider donating to an organization working to prevent suicide and help survivors of it. Two that come highly recommended are SPAN USA and the Kristin Brooks Hope Center.

RIP Ryan August
I'm behind on my blog reading and only just discovered that Ryan August, creator of the fantastic I Want Your Skull blog and a kind supporter of Skull-A-Day early on, died a few weeks ago in a car accident. He is survived by his wife and son. There is a Facebook page that has been set up to allow friends to post remembrances about Ryan HERE. If you found creative inspiration in his blog & art please consider helping his family out by making a donation, several options for helping out are also listed on the Facebook page.

[FLASHBACK] 89. Le Cat Skull...for Splinter
My good friend's cat Splinter passed away yesterday. He lived to the ripe old age of 22 and died peacefully in my friend's lap while his hands were on him. I frequently took care of Splinter and his cat siblings when his owners were away and I had a deep affection for him. He will be sorely missed. Since he was a mostly black cat I decided to rerun this cut paper image I created on August 31st, 2007 in his honor...
