A live one of these skull-y spiders was discovered by Katrina Cristobal in Miami, Florida (seems like a scary state to live in)...


Brandy's California Kingsnake is named Angmar because of the skull on his head...


And Lynn Huckaby in Wyoming owns a foal named Hoss with a rather wicked looking patch of fur on his back end...

Baptiste Ymonet & Vincent Jousseaume from Nantes, France made this gorgeous ceramic demitasse cup featuring a hidden skull (not unlike my own #273 The Skull or The Vase) called "Skintasse". These are for sale, so contact them directly if you're interested (I bought two!).

SKULLS events: Seattle, Washington

Good news for West Coast folks I am scheduled to do a SKULLS book signing at Seattle's mega craft fair Urban Craft Uprising in December. Details are as follows...

I will have books for sale there, so please come get a copy (or three) and help me recoup the cost of making the trip (yep, no glamorous author tour for me!). Please spread the word!

[BONUS UPDATE] The Fate of #274 Frog Skull (and Skeleton!)

On March 3rd, my skull for the day was made from hand cut copper sheet and glass: #274 Frog Skull (and Skeleton!)...


A few weeks later it was put into a kiln with some other work by my friend Carrie who kindly let me use her studio and materials for this piece. The molten glass is actually glowing red hot in the just opened kiln...



It's been waiting to be photographed on my desk ever since I got it back. The copper has turned red and escaping gasses have caused the bubbles to form...

LunaChick says, "This is a skull pin I made out of 'Mighty Putty'. I melted black crayon on him and used sharpie marker and paint on him for the black parts. He also has a few coats of glow in the dark paint."...
