Crochet Skull Bags

As I have mentioned on other occasions I really like it when different artist show up in the submission box using the same medium for their art. Today we have crochet bags as the medium.

The first bag comes from Monique St-Germain in Atlanta, GA. She wrote: “I made this purse for a friend for Christmas last year. Needless to say her mother was confused when my friend opened her present. She couldn't figure out why a "skull bag" was the cause of so much joy.”

The next bags are made by Pippi from Pocatello, ID. She said: “ One of my Flickr friends suggested I submit these to your Skull A Day blog. The skulls are done in tapestry crochet, in an original design by me.”

I am in awe of the sheer complexity of these designs. From the use of a zipper making the mouth into a pocket to tackling a “3/4 skull” one stich at a time, you both have a great talent for the work you do. Thank you for taking the time to submit your work it is amazing.

For people digging the first bag, I happened to remember seeing a pattern for it a while back on the AntiCraft website. Love how this version turned out - the swirls are a great touch.
