Sunday Simulacra - Version 6.36

Today's simulacra was found by my ever observant 7 year old son, Jaxin. He noticed the eyes and nose after removing a couple of stickers from this sheet...

Once he removed another sticker a smile had been added...

Are you as observant as a 7 year old? If so, send us your skull simulacra so we can share it with our readers. Needless to say, I'm pretty proud of my little skull hunter. Good work, Jaxin!

[BONUS] The Gift of Skulls: Shipping Label Stickers

Alex Minott, the manager of The Evolution Store in NYC, where I got my portrait taken recently, sent me this wonderful collection of handmade stickers, which he draws with marker on shipping labels and then cuts out with a hobby knife!

He says that he hasn't made them in a while, but hopefully our praise will inspire him to make more!

Personal Project Skulls

Today we have a pair of skull that were created as part of personal projects.

First up is a new sticker from The Netherlands based Dstruct Collective. The sticker project called “Forever Young” is a collaborative effort between Michiel who did the lettering and “Ruwedata” who did the image as of way to recapture their youthful rebellion. {ed note: “Ruwedata” is now 30}

Next up is Rodni from Richmond,CA who made this stencil for a project he called “white on dark photoed with clouds”.

C me says:

Thank you both for sharing your personal projects with us. I am always welcome to see how our community has its footings throughout the world. I was also amused to find that there is a Richmond, CA since Richmond, VA is where the Skull-A-Day headquarters is. Dstruct Collective is giving out their free stickers across The Netherlands whether you want them or not, however check out Rhodni's link for info about getting some of his free stickers.

“Countdown To Halloween”
17 more days and counting...

Sunday Simulacra - Version 5.13

Lucky number week 13 brings us another round of great hidden skulls lurking in the most obvious of places.

Daniel Muñoz of Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, Colombia came across this toothy chair at the home of a client. Looks like a near relative of the Skull Master's own Skairy.

Mike Leemann from Charlottesville, Va discovered what might be the first cylops skull simulacra.

And another Virginian, Dolores, caught this dazzling skull while stopping for a bite. "We were coming home to VA from Boston having attended our neice's graduation from Northeastern. Of course when you stop at The Barrel you have to look around at the tchotchkes and voila...there it was....earrings and bracelet Skully!:)"

These are all wonderful examples of just how sneaky these skulls can be. If you're not paying attention they might just pass you by. If you are then be sure to submit your pics when you do capture one. Thanks again, skull hunters!

Adrian's Skulls

Today’s skulls are a collection of work from artist Adrian Vallejo in Amarillo, Texas.

“A wooden sign I designed and painted. It's on 1/2" thick sign plywood and now resides in my workshop / man cave.”

“My leather wallet that I designed and tooled. It represents me and my two daughters. It reminds me to ‘carpe diem’ and how important my girls are to me.”

“This is a doodle I did during a boring office meeting. I had just returned from a week in Italy and was inspired by all the magnificent sculpture I had seen there.”

“Lastly are some stickers I designed & printed back when I was a silk screen printer. They are about an inch tall on clear vinyl like a mini, instant stencil graffiti. I would stick them in random places that I felt needed its ‘skull awareness’ heightened. I found these in a box of old stuff recently and was delighted to see them again.”
Panhandle C says:

This is an amazing collection of talents you have shared with us. If I had to pick a favorite I would have to say the mini stickers are mine. I fully support your quest in raising skull awareness. Speaking of which since you are multi-talented- why not participate in the skull quilt project that is being done for our Skull Awareness Day on June 4th. More details about it can be found here and everyone is welcomed to participate.

Fruit Sticker Skulls

If you like fruits and veggies as much as the Skull Master then you will surely recognize today's skulls. Ainslee Lara sends us some of her sticker skulls that not only look sweet but might actually be good for you too.

"Banana Brains"

"Trust"
*This skull is taken from the Wilco logo with the word "Trust" replacing "Wilco"

"Sweet Reds"

It still amazes me when I see our readers making such awesome skulls out of such ordinary items. We've all seen these before, but Ainslee has put a whole new spin on how I'll look at them from now on. If we keep getting these great skulls in "bunches" then we'll have to "stick" around for a long time to keep sharing them. Thanks, Ainslee!

Stop Sign Skull

Andrew M. Fabry found a sticker on the back of a stop sign and with a little adjustment, made this skull.

I like the shine of the sign back with the worn sticker paper. This is a great piece and lucky material find. It's a bit of a found object skull with some improvising. I like the back ground that the sign reflects, it really makes the photo pop.

A Skull in a Sticky Situation. (Safe for Work)

Skip wrote: "I work at a film company, and made this from the label scraps after a co-worker/friend had me burn 70 DVDs in house. Another coworker saw it and told me about your blog."

Printer C Says:

Wait I have a couple: Is it live? I don't think you should be advertising DVD piracy.

Welcome aboard Skip, we are glad you found us. I really like that you saw art when others just saw trash. You must have some pretty amazing things around to inspire you for a future submission.

To Skip's coworker: Thanks for sharing Skull-A-Day with a new person.

There have been a number of past submissions from the work place, I truly enjoy seeing work done with the tools of your trade.

106. Found Skull #2: Stormtrooper?

Remnants of a stencil graffiti sticker on a coffee shop window, and below my interpretation...

Kinda looks like a Stormtrooper skull, doesn't it?
