CONTEST: Win a Sugar Skull Necklace

CONTEST IS CLOSED! THANKS FOR PARTICPATING!

Sabrina Minnon is an illustrator and graphic designer, but jewelry is her passion. She would like to share her passion for jewelry by giving away a sugar skull pendant with beaded necklace to one lucky Skull-A-Day fan!

Sabrina explains about her creations and businesses, "In 2011, launched my own line of accessories, called MinnonMade. My collections are a mix of brass, crystals, and hand-molded, clay pendants. Each piece is handmade and one-of-a-kind.  Inspired by sugar skulls of Mexico and African skull idols, I began molding and painting skulls to use in my jewelry. I combine these pieces with braided thread, or beads. I also combine cast, brass skulls with druzy crystals in a variety of configurations. You can see those on my blog, Minnonmade. I am Indonesian, originally from Jakarta. I am now based in Bali, where I live and create with boyfriend. Together, we own a men's clothing label called Victor Banks, which sells in Indonesia, Singapore and Vancouver, Canada. My jewelry is available for sale through my blog, or in shops in Bali."

Since Sabrina's skulls are wearable, to be entered into the contest just leave a comment saying how would wear a real skull.

[NOTE: If you're reading this on Facebook be sure to leave your comment on the original Skull-A-Day.com post if you want to be actually entered in the contest]

IMPORTANT: Don't forget to include a way to contact you (either an e-mail in the post OR make sure your Blogger profile has a working e-mail link for you on it). Entries are only valid with this information.

You have until just Midnight Eastern Time Wednesday, January 11th  to enter so don't delay!

NOTE: Sabrina will pay for shipping to the winner.

Of course, you don't have to wait till the end of the contest to get your own Minnonmade necklace, visit her blog to purchase one of her handmade sugar skull pendants with beaded necklace.

What a beautiful necklace! As for wearing a real skull, I think it would have to be as a clutch. I'd bling it up and it would open at the mandible! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-459204/Damien-Hirst-unveils-jewels-crown-50m-diamond-studded-skull.html

I went to China a few years ago, and at the Dirt Market they were selling real human skulls. Made me think. I'd LOVE to wear this wonderful piece of art instead!!! smile...

I think that necklace is gorgeous...I am a HUGE fan of anything skull and sport skull necklaces, rings, earrings, etc all the time!

Hmm...if I had to wear a real skull, I think I would make it an over dramatic bracelet. I would drill a big hole on the top of the skull and take the bottom jaw off. I would slide it up to my upper arm and then make the bottom half of the jaw a bracelet for the lower arm. I would paint the skull a light bronze color and put diamonds in the eyes, and also paint the jaw the same. I would put on a beautiful spaghetti strap black formal dress and head out on the town!

i think i would wear a skull using it as a mask if i only had the face... but if i had the whole thing, i would of course wear it as a necklace on as a very large charm bracelet.

sure, it would be a but cumbersome, but, hey, i'm wearing a skull!

If I were to wear a real skull, it would probably be as part of a belt, either a chain mail style belt or simple black leather, depending on the look I was going for with the outfit.

I adore SugarSkulls, they remind me that death is not the end. And that sometimes beauty is not ment for us to understand. I have sugarskull bride and groom tattoos of my husband and I, they are wonderful and I plan on doing a sleeve in sugarskulls and de las muertas art. My stepson passed away New Years 2011 and I am having a sugarskull designed in his memory.
I am always looking for sugarskull jewerly.

Fabulous necklace! I don't know how I'd wear a real skull, since they're pretty large and unwieldy. I'd probably try to work it into a fascinator or a clutch of some sort.

Wear a *real* skull?! Well...I would incorporate it in to my roller derby costume somehow...like a skull on a stick sort of thing, maybe? However, I would wear *this* one as part of my costume any day - especially since our emblem is fashioned after a sugar skull. megharmeyer@gmail.com

I don't think you could wear a adult human skull on your body successfully, but maybe I'd wear the teeth in a necklace or earrings! And if it were a smaller skull, I could see being able to use it a Lady Gaga type of hat! lol

Wow you made a beautiful necklace, I like all those colours.
To be honest I don't want to wear a real skull, but would love to wear yours.
Most of the time I only wear self made necklaces from gemstone beads and nice pendants, lots of times also from gemstones but also from other materials and I would definitely combine yours with mine :D.
Lots of greetings from the Netherlands. If you need to connect with me it's possible through my blog ;).

The necklace is awesome. You say a real skull, but not human necessarily. I think a bird skull necklace would be super. I have feathers and claws but have never found a skull. I do have a bear skull but I haven't yet tried to wear it.

I like all of the answers, but I'm a little disappointed that nobody has mentioned making a helmet a la "Evil Ash" from "Army Of Darkness".

If i were to wear a skull I would split a skull in half and mount them on a very nice vest to create the illusion of two skulls facing each other as if in search for something.

Love the necklace, would love to wear that everyday. As to wearing a skull, I'd have to agree with Sandra, definately a clutch. Line it with red velvet, use some sexy chrome hardware and leather. This just seems natural to me as I absolutely am obsessed with purses...it would be my Cranial Clutch.

Love the necklace!
I think I would hollow out the backs of two skulls and use them as knee guards for roller derby.

I absolutely appreciate the use of bones, especially skulls for art. I would proudly wear this necklace almost everyday.

I think deconstructing the skull could turn it in to many wearable pieces. Teeth bracelet, jaw bone necklace, facial bone cuff. I also love the idea of turning it in to a purse or clutch. rvastef(at)gmail(dot)com

I would love to WIN one and buy another and a have portaits done of my (hairless) Peruvian Inca Orchid dogs ( sisters Dastardly DeeDee and Inka Dinka) wearing the skull necklaces. And before they try to eat them, as they do EVERYTHING, they are only puppies, after all, I would turn them into a double necklace and/or earrings for myself.Or wear against a solid color. Whatever the case, I always multi-purpose.

The only way to properly wear a real skull in my opinion is on jewelry. That way you can enjoy it as a beautiful art piece and keep in close every day of the week!

Great necklace! Thanks for the chance to win!
Hmmm....wear a real skull...How about on a cane....it could be part way down the cane so I could still have a hook at the top to put on my arm when I'm just standing and need both hands!:)

Camerageek said...

wow, i would think a bird skull would be cool on a hat with some other bling, and some skulls cut down to fit on a belt buckle would be also pretty neat.
