340. Mesh Skull

Hand Bent Brass Mesh (10in x 16in [25cm x 41cm]). I spotted this material when I was buying supplies for the Embossed Skull two days ago, which points up a bit of the reality of this project: I don't have a master plan for the skulls I am making. I have plenty of ideas written down and I have pre-scheduled a handful that involve other people, but for most I'm pretty much deciding what I'm going to do and buying supplies that day or at some point a day or two before; I am rarely prepared earlier than that.

That is gorgeous, Noah! One of my favorites. Wait, how many times have I said that now?!

love the jaw line on this one- looks a bit like Lurch! ;)
have you thought about covering the mesh with something (don't ask me what, though) and making it glow from within (using a lightbulb)?

Very cool!

Silvergirl beat me to it... Looks like a good paper mache base, or just put a light in it as is...

Not having a set plan or step by step instructions is a real testament to your creativeness. Awesome work as usual!

I need one of those done into my front screen door. Maybe that would keep away the solicitors (including the ones who think they can convert me to their religion)!

WOW, This one is downright real looking! Very spooky for sure! Excellent and inspirational art as always. Peace and many blessings, Annie

Very cool! I also would love to see this backlit with a light. I wouldn't cover it though, you'd lose the effect and detail. So I gotta ask, did you use your own face as a mold to start this? lol

What I want to know is what do you do with the "made" skulls (i.e., things that do NOT have to be returned to their owners/proprietors/etc. once the work is done)???!? Will you be e-bay-ing them? Gifting them to friends? Sending them to your favorite politicians? Because if it something toward the first, I want to get in line NOW.

Monkeygurrrrl: I'm holding on to them for future display at which point some will be for sale. Some may also end up on ebay, but I haven't worked out the details yet. Don't worry I'll keep you all updated on this!
